Mobshare MMS2.0 Application
It’s indeed a great joy to introduce the Mobshare Application for your Symbian mobile phones. We have been working on this one for the past couple of months. If you have a symbian series 60 handset, you will be able to install & use this application.
The application is extremely easy to use & does away with the need to MMS photos to me@mobshare.in. Instead, the photos get uploaded via GPRS thus saving the MMS cost. Every time you click a photo or video on your mobile, there will appear a prompt that would ask you if you want to share it on mobshare.
Adding friends to your broadcast list is made easier. You can directly select your friends from your phone book (contacts), so now you don’t have to type in their mobile numbers or try remembering them!
You can also upload the photos & videos which are already there in your gallery (memory) & the application also shows you the preview of the content.
Once you select the photo/video to be uploaded, you can enter a caption. If you don’t enter anything, the default caption would be the time-stamp.
If you have a twitter, tumblr or flickr account, you can tie-in that as well, so that your photos/photo url gets posted everywhere automatically.
Download the Mobshare application from www.mms2.in
Mobshare’s MMS2 application was built on the Mobitop platform developed by Mobisy.
The list of supported handsets are available here.
More info about the application with screenshots available here.

Mobshare now let’s you geo-tag your mobile content. Even if you don’t have a GPS enabled mobile handset, you can come online anytime & add geo-data to your photos & videos. So your friends can check out where that pic of yours was shot. We are soon coming out with some interesting add-ons to geo-tagging. You will probably get to see other photos shot in nearby locations & we’ll even splash all your photos on to a map & auto-tagging if your phone has built-in GPS etc. Thanks to Google Maps for their cool APIs. Keep Mobsharing…

Indeed something to be really happy about, for everyone here at mobME, Mobshare.in has been showcased on Vodafone Live! since yesterday. We are extremely grateful to everyone @ Vodafone HQ for believing in us & extending their tremendous amount of support, through out the evolution of the platform, right till the User-Acceptance-Tests (UAT). Mobile Start-ups will get to know what a UAT is, when you take your product to a Mobile Operator for integration!
If you are a Vodafone user, point your Mobile WAP Browser to http://live.vodafone.in (which is your default homepage, so pressing ‘0′ for a couple of seconds on your Nokia handset or the ‘i’nternet key if you are using some other handset, should get you to the same place) Once you get to the Vodafone Live Home Page, you can click on the ‘Email’ link on the top tab to be taken to the page where it lists Social Networks, Email Apps, IMs etc & now Mobshare too! Happy Mobsharing…

Hey… We have just configured MMS for Airtel users too. If you are an Airtel subscriber, you can upload your photos & videos to Mobshare by sending it as an MMS to 55563. (For all other mobile operators, it continues to be me@mobshare.in)

Though the normal rates on Airtel is Rs 5/MMS, 55563 would be charged just Rs 3/MMS & it is exclusive to Mobshare.
Happy Mobsharing Airtel users… Send in those cool pics & vids.
BTW, if you didn’t notice, ‘63‘ stands for ‘me‘ on the number pad!

Indeed a very happy new year, having bagged two of the most prestigious awards an Indian start-up can dream of. As we had mentioned in the previous post, getting short listed in itself was a huge honor. Winning the title proves that Dreams _can_ be turned to Reality! These awards come as a huge motivation for our entire team as its an appreciation and recognition of the hard work each one of us have put in , in the past one year. We are extremely thankful to everyone around us, our families, our well wishers, investors, ex-employees, companies we associate with, our clients & our platform users. Hopefully this inspires a lot more youngsters to jump on the bandwagon. Winning the NASSCOM award is special in more ways than one. Its a first ever for a Kerala based start-up. Also, mobME becomes the youngest ever to receive this honor.

Friday, December 12th was mobME’s second anniversary. This day in 2006 marks our transition from Torque Technology Solutions, a partnership firm we started while in our 5th semester in Engineering College to mobME Wireless Solutions (P) Ltd. Back then, we had already got incubated in T-BIC, Technopark & our first round of angel investment had just come in. We had a small but great team & had decided our focus would be the possibilities of combining the power of Mobile & Internet.
Looking back, things have been great. We have grown from a college start-up to a company with 30 employees, a Marketing Office & a Development Center in Cochin and Biz Dev Centers in Mumbai & Gurgaon. Every single day out of the past two years have been exciting & challenging. It’s been a wonderful learning experience and we were successful in creating many profit centers within the company. SMSC Solutions, IVR (In-bound & Out-bound) Services, Online Bulk SMS (www.FastAlerts.in & www.BuyBulkSMS.com) have all grown into steady businesses.
And the 2nd anniversary week was special in more ways than one.

We got featured in the 2008 NASSCOM 100 Innovators list & have also been short listed among the finalists for the award in the start-up category. We were fortunate enough to be listed in NASSCOM’s 2007 list too but this time its much more special as we have been selected for the final presentation at Pune along with 5 other start-ups. Really looking forward to this event on the 23rd of this month. Sanjay & Vivek would be presenting mobME.
The other great news came in the form of an agreement from Vodafone for going on board their network as a peer2peer photo sharing partner. This happens to be the first among several other partnerships being forged between other leading Mobile Operators in the country. Almost half the team is working on this product & we are gonna rock 2009 with this!
We had thought of having some good getaway for the entire team but that didn’t happen cos Sanjay & Vishnu were stuck in Delhi & Vivek was busy in Mumbai. I just managed to get back to Cochin couple of days before the anniversary after a month long stint at Mumbai. So the celebration had to be limited to cakes for the time being!

That may sound a bit rude but as we have stated before, Mobshare is not a place for you to ‘Make new friends’, there are N number of other places that lets you do that, albeit, in a much better way. We are here to help you stay in touch with your existing closest circle of offline or rather ‘REAL’ friends with the help of your Mobile Phones! Towards this goal, we recently removed the FRIENDS feature, which we thought was a bit misleading to new users. So now, the privacy settings of your photos & videos are restricted to just 2 options compared to the previous 3, which are Share with ‘Everyone’ & Share with just those friends in your ‘Broadcast List’. But don’t worry, your existing settings will remain intact.
